Quick Answer

How do you calculate sales tax?

// Answer

To add tax, multiply the price by the rate and divide by 100, then add it: total = price × (1 + rate÷100). To remove tax from a gross price, divide by (1 + rate÷100). An item priced 100 at 8.25% becomes 108.25.
